Sluggish market clears the way for additional price cuts for recovered paper in France

Valeria Buß, 27 August 2024

The summer holidays are shaping France’s recovered paper market. All in all, the market was quiet in August, although that was nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year.

Market participants agree that collection volumes remained low.

Demand from within and outside France was not especially brisk, either.

The result: another round of price cuts for ordinary recovered paper grades. By contrast, prices for deinking and high grades trod water at July’s level.

Looking to September, insiders do not rule out further price reductions for ordinary grades if demand remains subdued.
